Johan Lundberg (b. 1990) is a guitarist and composer from Umeå, Sweden, now residing in Malmö. Studied Jazz Performance at Malmö Academy of Music where he developed a deep interest for improvisation, the craft of composition and fusing acoustic and electronic sounds in an improvised music context. Flourish/Depart by the band Johan Lundberg Assembly was released 2nd January 2019, Johan’s first full length album as a bandleader and sole composer.

The nine tracks on the album uses Johan’s compositions as springboards for the group to explore shifting soundscapes where lyrical melodies, harmonic and sonic exploration and collective improvisation are keywords. Not taking to heart any definition of style or genre but with the ambition to leave a mark with a highly personal aesthetic.
